Carson was, as usual, sorting through the new books that had been donated by the other people of the town to find out which ones he could take home with him and which ones he could donate to the local orphanage for when he came and read to them, alongside depositing the book for the older kids to read by themselves. With a soft hum, he examined the cover of a book called A Cricket in Time's Square with slight interest before flipping open the slightly worn cover and beginning to read the first page. Now that everyone could purchase pretty much any book they wanted to online, there was almost no business in the bookstore, but it was among the tender pages and the hard or soft backed books that he found peace. After all, what was the fun in looking at a bright screen when one could be touching a real page, and turning it with a tender care as to keep from tearing it? Carson just couldn't understand why people these days weren't interested in the actual books themselves. They couldn't fully appreciate the story if they didn't have the actual book to show for it, now could they? Of course....he might be one of the last young Kiamaras out there to think that way, which was why his expression was one of complete surprise when the bell above the door gave a soft jingle- the telltale sign of someone coming into the shop.

Raijin The door caused a little ring to sound from the little bell attached to the wall, signifying his entrance. He tutted, not too fond of the noise it made. It wasn't necessarily that he disliked noise, as most assumed. He just had a set preference for the noises he appreciated. There was nothing wrong with that.
Why did he come to the bookstore? To merely meander and glance at the books littering several shelves, and be overtaken by the scent of novels and words? That seemed like quite a reasonable answer. There was normally no one around the bookstore, except for the one cashier and a couple of older people who wanted to savor the things that they felt used to, rather than the new technology that had been hovering around.
Normally Raijin wouldn't have bothered coming to the store on the specified day, but he had finished work early today, and was allowed to leave. He had finished all the books he had at home, and felt the need to find something else to read. Were there even any good books worth reading, anymore?
Deciding to browse anyways, in chances that he might actually find a good book, the sabertoothed kia moved through the isles, towards the more familiar one. Red eyes glanced at the multitude of books, reading the various titles, ultimately finding himself losing interest in all of the ones he was looking at. He had read several of them, and others didn't have very interesting titles. Although they said not to judge a book by it's cover, at first glance that was all he could do.
A loud sigh escaped, the kia's head ducking down, annoyed with the lack of interesting books. And here he had walked all the way over for nothing.

The ever positive little Kia lifted his head and leaned over the counter slightly to watch the new person, studying his appearance and immediately picking out the sabertooth gene out of everything that stood out about this Kiamara. He found the glowing feathers actually very nice, alongside the crimson eyes- it wasn't often that someone came to the store with such a unique eye color. Usually they were various shades golds, browns, blues, and even the uncommon ebony color that Carson himself had. With a little flick of his tail, he studied Raijin as he moved along the aisles of books that had seen better days before technology had come and taken away their attention. When he noticed that the other male had not successfully found a book, he closed the book he had been investigating to slip out from behind the counter and quietly pad up to his side. All smiles and giving off an air of cheer, he stepped up to the other male and offered one big smile to greet him. "Good afternoon! I noticed you weren't having any luck with the books, and I thought I could make a suggestion. We've got a few new books that were recently given to us, and you might just find something that you'll enjoy," he offered, and he wasn't really supposed to let customers look through the books until their fates were decided but he just couldn't help not wanting to let Raijin leave the store disappointed and without a book. It was bad for business, after all, so he should be able to get away with doing it once, right?

Raijin Red eyes turned to look at the newcomer, despite the fact that the other had been in there longer than he had. By the way that the sabertoothed kia was greeted, he realized that the other was obviously the one working here. Since Raijin never found himself visiting the bookstore on days like this, he had never seen the other before.
Large ebony eyes, several white feathers, and small horns adorned the worker, along with a cheeky attitude that seemed to fit with the bright appearance. Raijin assumed it was necessary to have such a chipper attitude in order to sell more, but even so. Happiness wasn't exactly contagious, but you could definitely feel said joy radiating off of the other Kiamara, even if only something false.
Maybe he took an interest in books that much?
Nonetheless, the offer was heard out to the end. A smile placed itself lazily, yet in a charming way, onto Raijin's face, accentuating the saber teeth. Might as well treat others with the same respect. "I would appreciate the assist." He replied, voice silvery. He continued, voice keeping it's same tone. "If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them."
Who knows, maybe they had the same taste in books. Although there was high doubt for that to be true.

"Well, it all really depends on the tip of book you like, I suppose. Are you into fiction, non-fiction, mystery, horror, adventure, or something else?" Carson asked curiously, still as cheerful as ever when he noticed a book that someone had left on the floor instead of actually putting it back where it belonged. He tsked softly before picking the book up and returning it to its rightful place among the rest of the books written by the rightful author. Looking back to Raijin, he sat down next to the other Kiamara and hummed thoughtfully. "It also depends on what you've actually read. Are there any authors you've heard of recently that you might want to read about?" he added after a moment, tilting his head to the side and meeting those red eyes with his own dark ones.
