♦ Money ♦ 0 ♦ Items ♦ x 00 x 00 x 00 x 00 x 00 ♦ Key Items ♦ | Desirée sat in her usual spot at her favorite café, the place where she went every morning to drink her obligatory cup of coffee followed by the necessary glass of milk. At the moment, she was playing her pokemon game while absent mindedly taking a sip of her almost empty milk every now and then. She enjoyed playing these games because it was one of the few times when she felt she could really be a part of a team without having to fear being betrayed. Then again, her pokemon were not real. Just programmed creatures that had to follow her directions, yet to Dessy, this was a rare thought. Usually, she allowed herself to be deluded and think of her digital pokemon as her real friends. At least while she was playing the game.
At the end of the day, when all games were put away and she lay awake in bed thinking, she knew that she didn't really have any friends outside of her family. It wasn't necessarily something that bothered her often, but she just didn't have the strength to try and trust others. She always saw alternate motives behind the actions of others and always second guessed her initial feelings to others. It was just a part of her cynical and suspicious nature.
Dessy sighed, closing her DS and getting ready to leave. She stood, turned to head out towards the door, and suddenly tripped over a waitress who had been carrying a pitcher of some strange green juice and hadn't been watching where she was going. The pitcher flew up into the air as Dessy fell fowards towards a small table another kia was sitting at. Her DS flew up, on a collision course with the strange green juice. Just as the juice splashed down up her and the other woman, the DS collided with it and a bright green light flashed all around her, causing her to black out for a moment. When she came to, the other kia was there, but her DS, the waitress, and the whole café in fact, were not. The two of them were sitting on the ground just outside a small town and just in front of a path overgrown with tall grasses.
"HEY! You two!" Dessy suddenly heard someone shout. She turned to see an older man in a white lab coat walking briskly towards them. "You can't go out there! There are wild pokemon in the tall grass!" |

She had stayed up late working on a painting, she loved to paint in truth and could spent most every day painting. Often she did considering Lemorte was paying for most of her art supplies. Which she felt bad about because she didn't want him helping her like that. He did anyways because he loved her, and though she loved him, she hated spending his money. She fiddling with her pencil and started to draw, she glanced up seeing another kia sitting there. It appeared she was playing a game of some sort. If she wasn't mistaken, the theme sounded like pokemon. She smiled faintly, she loved pokemon growing up, she never got to play though because her family was to poor to afford such things like that. But she got to watch the other kia's at school play it and she drew pictures of their teams for them. So she knew a little bit about the game, but not much of it.
She contemplated asking Lemorte to buy her the new games, but sighed silently as the pain in her stomach started again. She always got that pain whenever she felt like it was a bad idea. She nodded her head, perhaps she could earn it, Dimitri could help her one day. Perhaps anyways, she wasn't sure yet, she would take the time to dwell on the thought a little longer before rushing in.
It was in all but a moment when the other girl got up that she realized that she had been sketching the girl, she blushed meekly trying to hide her drawing of the strange kia playing with the ds. No, she wasn't strange it was just more like. Well Shizuka was strange for drawing her. She felt bad now because she should have asked if she could draw her, she hid her drawing as the girl drew closer, what if she found out and was coming to ask. Perhaps the girl would walk past and maybe Shizuka could get a look at her team. All the thoughts raced in her mind, but then in all but a sudden. A green light flashed causing Shizuka to yelp soundlessly as she felt herself being sucked into something.
She opened her eyes, shocked to see the tall grass around them, she glanced around, how strange, what happened? Where were they? All her stuff was here in her bag it seemed, but it felt lighter almost. She frowned a bit and jumped meekly when someone called out to them. Wild pokemon? How strange, what pokemon? She was deeply confused and it showed her in eyes as she looked to the other girl for answers as she mouthed her apology silently.

She looked back at the other woman, as she stood up slowly and offered her a hand up. She looked very confused as well. How had they gotten here? Where was here? Suddenly, as she looked back at the old man who was reaching out to take her and the other woman by the elbows, Dessy saw an impossible creature on the man's shoulder. It was a pidgey. An honest to goodness pidgey, live and in the flesh. There was no doubt in her mind that it wasn't real. She blinked blankly at it, too shocked to say anything, but the man wasn't waiting for words from them. He was apparently used to pushing people around and he was going to do the same with them. "My name is Professor Maple. If you want to go adventuring you're going to need pokemon." He was leading them by their elbows towards a large, block-ish building. "I have some starters who have just come in from the breeders' program that I can give you, a bit of a mix up happened though... we seem to have gotten different regions' starters..."
Following him in a bit of a daze, Dessy couldn't help but wonder who "Professor Maple" was. She had never heard of him and she had played all the pokemon games. As they entered the building, she saw a large sign that read:
Glitchian National Pokemon Research Lab
She looked at the other kia, starting to wonder if this was a dream. However, the confusion on the other kia's face made her feel as though this were somehow real. The people in her dreams always seemed to know what was going on when she was confused.
"Well here they are!" Professor Maple said, pointing to six pokemon who were in a daycare like room of the lab. "Like I said... there was a bit of a mix up, but go ahead and each of you choose one while I go get you each a pokedex." He tilted his head to one side as he said that. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, didn't I? In exchange for taking a pokemon from this lab it is your duty to acquire new information for our data collection teams with the pokedexes.

Pokemon was just a game, she was dreaming again, yes another wild fascination of hers. Yet this one felt so vivid and real she didn't know what to do. It was just so… unreal, but still. It wasn't until the man picked them up to help them on their feet that she noticed the little bird pokemon on his shoulder. Instantly her eyes lit up like a fire had sparked inside of her. There was a pidgey! A Real Pidgey on his shoulder!
It shocked her truly it did, she started at shock towards the other kia to see if it was a dream, but it wasn't it was real. She could tell by the same shock in the other kia's eyes. At least she thought it was real too. Shizuka snapped back into realty her lips trembled to speak to the man, but no noise followed, always her problem it was. She sighed silently and ended up following after him. Starters? She wondered, she loved many starters but only knew a few, she glanced up at the sign curiously. This would be a story certainly to write to Lemorte, considering she couldn't speak. She had never heard of Professor Maple before, was he from one of the newer games? What about this Glitchian? Was it a new region, it sounded interesting for sure!
Shizuka's eyes lit up seeing all the beautiful pokemon in front of her, ones she had seen from her past, and others that she didn't know of. The ones that struck out the most to her was the adorable Piplup and the little Fennikin, they were both so terribly cute, she didn't know which of the 6 to pick though. It sounded like an adventure that Buttercup dragged her on. How exciting! She blinked, feeling bad for the thoughts and looked at the other kia. If this was real, the other kia should get first pick, because she would feel bad for picking the one she wanted she smiled at her and waited for her to make the first move. Dream or not, it sounded like a great idea.

At that moment, Dessy wasn't worrying about the real world, she wasn't afraid or suspicious. Because at that moment, she lay her eyes on six starter pokemon, six real starter pokemon, and she couldn't help it as a smile crossed her face. She looked at the other kia, wondering which she might choose. However the other woman seemed as though she wanted Dessy to choose first, even though it was clear that she was almost as excited as Dessy was. Perhaps it would hit them both later what they were getting into, but for now the wonder of it all was all they could think about. As Dessy walked forward, she wondered if the other kia was waiting so she could get a type advantage over her. If she was, Dessy didn't care. She knew how to overcome type disadvantages. She also knew which pokemon she was going to pick: the squirtle. They were all cute and looked powerful, but squirtle had been the first pokemon she had ever gotten in her games. She thought it was only fitting to pick him.
As she approached him, the squirtle watched her calmly, though a smile spread over his face. She held out her hand to him and when he took it, a pokeball phased into existence above his head and floated there, seeming to glitch a little every now and then until Dessy took it in her hand. When she did, a strange holographic screen was projected from the button:
Would you like to Nickname the Pokemon?
Dessy tapped on the yes option. The "screen" changed into a keyboard and entry field. She typed in a name for the little guy, "Bernard", then clicked on the confirmation button and the hologram disappeared, leaving her with a pokeball and little Bernard calmly coming to stand beside her and eyeing the other kia as if he was interested in which of his friends she would choose to take with her.

Shizuka glanced at the other kia till she moved, tenderly she reached out and grabbed the squirtle, a thought of relief fell upon her as she immediately went to the small penguin before her, she smiled and picked it up, it's tiny blue body shivered upon her touch and instantly she felt bad and put it back down backing away meekly. Feeling bad for scaring the small creature her eyes watered and she dipped her head in apology, the small pokemon blinked a bit and waddled over to her, "piplup!" She chirped at her and tilted her head. She blinked and smiled more at her. The Pokemon nodded her head in understanding. Shizuka smiled more and picked her back up, she jumped swiftly seeing the poke ball appear out of no where. She glanced back over at the other kia.
It seemed to be happening to her as well. As soon as she touched the poke ball the screen popped up causing her to yelp silently and recoil back falling down again and landing on her tail causing her eyes to water again. The Piplup chirped at her and petted her head in comfort. Shizuka frowned meekly and glanced at the screen again.
would you like to nickname this pokemon?
She thought about it, she could give her a name, but she wasn't sure what it even was, it seemed to say Piplup a lot so that must be it's name. She smiled and got up typing in the name Pipper. It was like Pepper, but with Pip and it was still cute… so original of her, she thought it lacked creativity, but it was still cute so she refused to change it either way. She smiled down at her little Pipper who tilted her head curiously.
